Homegirl of the Month

I'm introducing a new thread on the blog this year...that thread is entitled "Homegirl of the Month."

This is where I'll feature a young lady that's doing big things in her career, shaking the haters off and inspiring young women across the globe.

This month's homegirl is Kerry Washington.

You may remember her from the teen dance flick Save The Last Dance from a few years ago also starring Julia Stiles. Kerry played "Shenille," the sassy schoolmate that helped Julia's character "Sarah" settle down into the new environment of the Chicago public school system.

Kerry has also starred in blockbuster films like Ray starring Jamie Foxx and her latest film Lakeview Terrace starring Samuel L. Jackson. Kerry's a brilliant actress and has proven to be very versatile with her choice of roles. I really liked her in I Think I Love My Wife with Chris Rock where she played Chris' character's ex-flame who comes back into his life to start a little trouble.

Kerry is also active with various charities like Americans For The Arts and was a vocal cheerleader for the Obama campaign. Brains, Beauty, Character and Class...these all define Kerry.

Life Inside My Head salutes you Kerry!
