November's Homegirl is the talented comedienne and actress Mo'nique. Mo'Nique began her career 16 years ago in Baltimore, Maryland. She was introduced to the stage on a dare from her brother and has been lighting it on fire ever since. She has appeared on Russell Simmon's HBO comedy special Def Comedy Jam and had a stint as hostess of the Apollo theatre's infamous Showtime at the Apollo show which showcases new and and undiscovered talent.
Most may remember Mo'Nique as the sassy single mom on the UPN hit The Parkers. She won numerous NAACP Image awards for the performance. She is also a star on the Queens of Comedy tour which included the stand up comedic performance of good friend Sommore. Mo'Nique has also starred in films to include Two Can Play That Game with Vivica A. Fox, Shadowboxer and Baby Boy. Perhaps her most important and Oscar buzzed role has been for her performance as the tough talking abusive mother Mary Jones to the lead character in the critically acclaimed Precious in theaters now.
Mo'Nique is a cheerleader and support system for plus-size women everywhere. Her hysterical and high energy live performance to Beyonce's "Crazy In Love" song at the BET music awards had everyone talking for months after the show. Mo'Nique has recently made a commitment to get in better shape but still promotes the beauty of all women of all shapes and sizes. She has written a book in support of self-esteem for plus sized women entitled Skinny Women are Evil.
Mo'Nique is a shining example of the inner and outer beauty of homegirls of all shapes and sizes. Mo'Nique, Life Inside My Head salutes you!

I agree - one has to respect and become inspired by the plight of Monique. She has overcome many many odds and obstacles in her life to get to the shining light which she currently resides.
That said, hopefully she will no longer accept any more Hair Show scripts. LOL.
