History Profound

Morry Gash/AP

Ladies and gentleman, meet the new President of the United States of America.

Barack Obama!

I was going to just go to sleep after watching McCain's concession speech and President-Elect Obama's acceptance speech but I felt compelled to talk to you this evening.

This is huge. This is wayyyyyyyy huge. Words cannot describe the emotion that sweeps across this nation as we speak. Obama's selection means so much to a community of people who have been disenfranchised, who have been told they were second class citizens. It means so much for our ancestors who were beaten, spat on, and degraded in their quest to vote and be considered equal. It didn't really hit me, the magnitude of it all until only a few moments ago.

Barack Obama represents me. I won't even lie to you, I got emotional as I sat and reflected on it all. It was reported that 61% of Barack's voters were white , 43% were African-American and 11% were Hispanic.

We made history today guys and gals, some of us, by waiting in long lines (shout out to my aunt Yvette) and getting through some voting booth issues, but we did it.

I am so very proud to have lived in this moment, this historical moment in our nation's history. Regardless of how your vote was cast, you lived to see this day. Take a moment today and just reflect on the fact that you were there, you are here, and you are apart of a new future.

He promised change and he delivered the first dose tonight. Congratulations President-Elect Obama.

Your nation calls...
